1 Zhouzhuang
Tour from Shanghai
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Suzhou or Shanghai for the approximately 1.5-hour drive to Zhouzhuang. Explore a water town with more than 900 years of history, where many buildings date from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Wander waterside lanes and stone bridges for changing views of the canals.
Explore Zhouzhuang’s canals and historic bridges. Visit Zhenfeng Bridge, which connects Zhenfeng Lane and Xiwan Street, then continue to Fu’an Bridge at the east end of Zhongshi Street. Built in 1355 and later rebuilt, Fu’an Bridge is distinguished by towers at its four corners.
3. After exploring the town, stop for a Chinese lunch. Visit the historic residence also known as Yuyan Hall or Zhang’s House. Its six courtyards and more than 70 rooms cover about 1,800 square meters, with traditional windows and buildings arranged around the central courtyard.
4. To cap off your time in Zhouzhuang we'll take a little cruise through the town, allowing you to see why many consider Zhouzhuang to be the most beautiful of all China's water townships.
5. You'll then be taken back to your hotel in either Suzhou or Shanghai, and you will be dropped off.
What to refine before booking
Protect the travel days
Review the full hotel-to-hotel transfer for every intercity leg. Avoid relying on a flight or train arriving early enough for a tightly timed major attraction unless the final schedule supports it.
Choose a comfortable pace
Confirm stairs, slopes and time on foot. Ask which optional visits can be shortened or removed, and where an additional night would make the biggest difference.
Make inclusions explicit
Request the actual hotel and room choices, guide language, vehicle arrangements, admission coverage, meals and any activity-specific support in the written quotation.
