SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Lijiang

Arrive in Lijiang by plane or train. Your English-speaking guide and driver will meet you at the airport or station and transfer you to your hotel to rest.

Day 2: Baisha to Wenhai

Spend the day exploring Lijiang’s cultural heritage, beginning in Baisha, an early Naxi settlement. Visit historic buildings dating from the Ming dynasty and walk along streets lined with homes and small shops. Streams run through the village, adding to its peaceful setting.

Visit the Baisha murals, which depict stories from Taoism, Buddhism, and Tibetan Buddhism. The paintings combine artistic influences from Naxi, Tibetan, Han, and Bai communities. Images of Guanyin and Shakyamuni are among their notable subjects, making the murals an important record of regional art and religious history.

Hike from Baisha toward Wenhai Village, with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as a backdrop. The route leads to a valley where Naxi farming families live around the lake. At Wenhai Eco-Lodge, learn about a community-run business whose participating families contribute a share of profits to local development.

We will stay overnight at a guesthouse in Wenhai.

Day 3: Shaxi

Hike toward Tiger Leaping Gorge, set between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Mountain. Steep cliffs and powerful river rapids create a dramatic landscape. The area’s caves, rock paintings, and artifacts also offer insights into its early inhabitants.

TAILOR-MADE TRAVEL

What to refine before booking

Protect the travel days

Review the full hotel-to-hotel transfer for every intercity leg. Avoid relying on a flight or train arriving early enough for a tightly timed major attraction unless the final schedule supports it.

Choose a comfortable pace

Confirm stairs, slopes and time on foot. Ask which optional visits can be shortened or removed, and where an additional night would make the biggest difference.

Make inclusions explicit

Request the actual hotel and room choices, guide language, vehicle arrangements, admission coverage, meals and any activity-specific support in the written quotation.

Compare another approach

For a more spacious route, explore the original journey briefs in our national and regional collections. These show overnight allocations, transfer days and the tradeoffs behind each route.
