The route at a glance
Focus on one location: an afternoon Gubeikou walk, a Wall-side camp and sunrise on the ridge.
Operated by Great Wall Adventure Club. This route is presented as part of China Travel Collection’s specialist Great Wall selection.

Walking level & suitability
Less walking than the through-hike camping programs. A practical choice when time is limited.
Detailed itinerary
Late-morning pickup: Leave Beijing for Gubeikou and stop for a local meal. Afternoon walk: Explore the unrestored ridge without the distance of a through-hike. Camp setup: Reach the approved site and check sleeping gear. Sunset and dinner: Take in the late-day view, then eat and settle in.
Early view: Rise for the first light across the Gubeikou towers. Breakfast and pack-up: Eat and gather all equipment. Short final walk: Use remaining time for a viewpoint or village walk as arranged. Return: Travel back to Beijing or a confirmed onward point.

Plan the practical details
Confirm the permitted overnight location, tents, sleeping bags, pads, meals, toilet arrangements and weather alternative in your written proposal. The actual sleeping location may be a designated area near the Wall; do not infer permission to camp anywhere from a route photograph.
Arrange storage for your main luggage with the route team. Carry a small daypack with water, suitable layers and personal essentials. Confirm whether bags travel by vehicle between overnight stops.
Before confirming your departure
- Review the terrain and walking level for every member of your party.
- Confirm dates, current route access and a weather alternative.
- Request an itemized quote covering guide, transport, admissions, meals and any overnight equipment or accommodation.
- Check the final meeting instructions and emergency contact details.
