Why this sequence works
Yunnan is the main second chapter rather than a short detour. Kunming provides an intermediate stop before deeper time in Dali and Lijiang.
This is an original planning brief, not a fixed-date departure or confirmed quotation. The nights below add up to 20; arrival and final departure are included in the 21-day length.

The route’s tradeoff
The Shanghai finish is intentionally brief. Add nights there for a wider city visit instead of removing the Yunnan recovery time.
